Today’s link is an easy one because if Elie Honig wrote it, I’m going to share it. His take on the Hunter Biden pardons is that they’re not entirely unreasonable — the gun charge for which he was convicted is almost never prosecuted and the tax evasion charge to which he pleaded guilty is almost always resolved once the back taxes are paid — but that Joe Biden could have handled the situation far, far better. Put another way, Honig’s not angry. He’s disappointed.
I could go on summarizing the piece, but it’s better just to read it. As always, Honig makes his points clearly, concisely, and with great nuance. Not everyone will agree with his column — I’m not even sure I do — but he gives the reader more than enough thoughtful points to consider. Quite the guy, that Elie.
