As the new year begins, I’m going to make a temporary change to the website and stop introducing the links. I’m doing this because I wrote a book a god-forsakenly long time ago and I can’t let it go. I have enough time to either edit the book or write these intros, but not both. Hopefully, editing shouldn’t take too long. Probably, it will. Regardless, it’s worth another go. I think it’s a strong story with compelling characters and meaningful themes, and I just really want to see it published.
As far as One Daily Link is concerned, I hope this change doesn’t make too much of a difference, because the links are really what matter. The knowledge that thoughtful, honest brokers exist on both sides of the aisle is what matters, seeing their well-reasoned support for their positions is what matters, and seeing them give their opponents the benefit of the doubt is what matters. These are the people who understand that “destroying the country” or “embracing authoritarianism” are fictional (not to mention self-defeating) political motivations, that the worst of the other side’s voters don’t represent the other side’s voters, and that priorities — not morality — dictate which party a voter chooses. That’s all. If there’s more to it than that, it’s not much.
So that will be it for me until spring, but the links will keep coming. Please stay subscribed and please share the site with your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers. As a new administration assumes power, thoughtful commentary on both sides is as necessary as ever. Thank you for your support, talk to you soon, and here’s the day’s link.
