Yesterday’s link was an even-handed look at the factors, both good and bad, that may affect Kamala Harris’ road to the White House. Today’s link looks at the biggest challenges she’ll face. It does this not to tear her down, but to improve her chances.
Because Harris isn’t entering this race at an advantage. Her approval numbers are barely better than Biden’s and several points worse than Trump’s. If she were an unknown quantity, that would be easier to change. But Harris is known, so it will take clear-eyed strategizing to shift voters’ opinions. That means honestly assessing her and the national party’s weaknesses and, rathering than papering them over, addressing them. Biden wasn’t willing to do that and now he’s gone. If Harris isn’t willing to do it, what was the point of changing candidates?
