Today’s link has put me in a bind. I make a concerted effort not to link to columns that might be paywalled (I say “might” because today’s is only paywalled if you’ve read your monthly limit of the publication’s articles). At the same time, the author of the column writes far less than he should, and so I feel an urgency to share his work. He’s a legal analyst and expert. He’s also incredibly, incredibly fair-minded. Hopefully that last bit goes without saying since he’s featured here, but I included it because it continues to amaze me. The author has his view of the world and his view of the law, and he does the best job I’ve seen of not letting what he’d like to see happen interfere with what he believes the law says should happen. That doesn’t remotely mean you have to agree with his view of the world or the law, but — for me at least — it engenders a trust in his analysis that I hope you come to share no matter your party affiliation.
P.S. It’s possible you’ve already read or heard about today’s link since it got a fair bit of play over the weekend. I do typically try to link to pieces you’re less likely to come across, but the chance to feature today’s author is too good to pass up.
