Today’s column is the second in a row on how vital swing voters will be to winning this election. Maybe that’s obvious to some, but Republican and Democratic messengers still don’t seem to see it. Their thinking appears to be, “Once we rev up our base, the swing voters will come around.” In this election, the reverse seems more likely. Pull in swing voters, show your base you can win, and use that momentum to build more momentum. Thankfully, there is one party advisor — today’s columnist — who agrees with me. I’m curious to see if others follow his lead as the campaign heats up and the numbers stay relatively, unnecessarily tight.
