In 24 hours, we’ve gone from not knowing if we’d have presidential debates to getting two on the books, with the first scheduled for late next month. As with everything political, responses to Biden’s unexpected debate challenge have been a Rorschach. Most Republican pundits say this is proof he knows he’s losing. Most Democratic pundits say he’s taking the fight to the former president. Happily, I found a columnist willing to buck his party’s line. Doesn’t mean he’s right, but it does mean he’s given it more thought than every cable news host. For God’s sake, give this man his own show.
