Yesterday I said I hoped to find a strong column about the Alito flag incident. Today, it’s here, and it comes with a story. When I first read the piece, it struck me as angry. Angry enough that I didn’t want to link to it. Then I read it again and realized it had seemed angry not because it was, but because I kept expecting it to be. The misperception of anger was entirely mine. All this made me wonder how many political arguments I got into because I was on edge for no reason, waiting for the bomb to go off until I set it off myself because what the hell, it was going to happen anyway. I hope not too many, but I can think of a few. Hopefully, because of columns like today’s and hundreds more like it, that time is behind me.
