Of all the issues bedeviling President Biden’s campaign messengers, I have to imagine the economy is the most vexing. Major indicators — the stock market, inflation, unemployment — are strong, yet the president’s economic approval rating is weak. How can this be? Today’s columnist lays out his case for the discrepancy. And while he doesn’t offer Biden’s messengers much immediate solace, he does give them answers they can work from. The clock’s ticking. They’d better get on it.
